The Kensington Concrete Construction Company
Louis Raffin, a mason from northern Italy, immigrated in 1912 to practice his trade in the burgeoning city of Chicago. Four years later, he was a founding partner of the Kensington Concrete Construction Company named after the Kensington neighborhood on the city's south side. In 1922, Louis bought out his associates and the firm took on the family name, Raffin Construction Company.
Rockefeller Chapel at University of Chicago
Raffin Construction did masonry work on the interior of the chapel structure from 1925 through 1928.
St. Percopious in Nile, Illinois
Over time Louis Raffin's sons entered the business. Through the rough times of the Depression and the war years, the company survived by adhering to the basic principals of efficiency, honesty and quality.
Raffin Company Truck
An exciting day at Raffin Construction! We acquired a new Autocar dump truck in the late 1940’s during the more prosperous post-WWII era. Raffin Construction survived the rationing of resources during WWII by providing construction services to the heavy industry that manufactured products for the war effort. Raffin came out of the war years ready to serve the construction boom of the 1950s.
Ingersoll Products
Raffin Construction continued in the 1950's what was a very long and mutually beneficial relationship with Ingersoll Products. A manufacturer of tractor plow discs for John Deere and International Harvester, they expanded their product lines in the years during the 1950's and Raffin Construction was there to meet their construction needs.
Matteson Plant
By the early 1960's Raffin Construction Company was well known as an established general contractor. With Louis' grandsons leading the the enterprise, the company focused on the commercial and industrial markets. During this time, relationships were developed with owners and subcontractors which continue to this day.
Shellbourne Conference Center
The 1970’s was mostly known for disco and polyester suits. But for Raffin Construction it was the beginning of a great relationship with the administrators at Shellbourne Conference Center. The relationship began with a building addition to their religious retreat center and continued onward to other large and small additions and renovations throughout.
Welded Tube Company
In the 1980’s, Raffin Construction started doing construction work for Welded Tube Company, a producer of steel tube products, which is now owned by Atlas Tube as a part of Zekelman Industries. Raffin has continued to partner with Atlas Tube on their concrete and general contracting projects to this day.
Bridgeford Foods
Bridgeford worked with Raffin to construct a 20,600 square foot, three story addition to their meat processing facility. The construction took place adjacent to and over an area of the facility used for processing food without interruption to operations.
Haggerty Volkswagen
This 26,000 square foot stand alone dealership located in Oak Lawn, Illinois includes a two story show room with offices and a service area. The design-build project was completed on a fast-track schedule, cutting two months off the typical project schedule while incorporating Volkswagen's strict design standards.
First National Bank of Evergreen Park
Beverly Bank enlisted Raffin Construction to help with budgeting and ultimately constructing the renovation of a vacant bank building that they were interested in purchasing.
Continuing the Tradition of Quality Construction
A fifth generation of the Raffin family is now part of the company. Civil engineering degrees combined with five generations of experience allow Raffin to offer clients the technical expertise to meet their needs. The family philosophy of dealing honestly with people and providing a quality product - begun 100 years ago by Louis Raffin - continues to this day.
