Project Overview
Modern Forge Companies was looking to add a new press to their existing line of presses and expand their forging capabilities at the Indiana location. They partnered with Raffin Construction to design and build concrete foundations and structural steel platforms necessary for the expansion. The Raffin team designed and constructed a 16 ft. by 30 ft. by 14 ft. deep press pit foundation for the new 3,000 ton forging press. Additionally, they poured the foundation for the trim press and scrap conveyor trench. Each of these required a separately designed earth retention system.
In addition to the concrete foundations, Raffin designed and constructed three structural steel platforms with ladders/stairs necessary for Modern’s expansion project: one for a chiller, one for a pump, and one operator’s platofrm.
Raffin’s experience working with forging plants and pouring heavy industrial foundations allowed the project to progress within the owner’s strict timeline and budget.
